Holistic Dentistry

Holistic or Biological dentistry is primarily used in preserving teeth & using safer products to improve or replace old procedures.

At Aaria Dental Group, we believe that oral health is closely connected to overall wellness. Our holistic approach to dentistry focuses on treating the whole person—not just individual teeth or dental conditions. By using biocompatible materials, minimally invasive techniques & personalized treatment planning, we strive to support both your oral health & your overall well-being.

Whether you’re looking for mercury-free restorations, ceramic dental implants or a more individualized approach to dental care, our team is here to help.

What Is Holistic Dentistry?

Holistic dentistry, also known as biological dentistry, combines traditional dental care with a broader view of health. Like all licensed dentists, holistic dentists receive the same education & clinical training as conventional dentists. The difference lies in their treatment philosophy.

Traditional dentistry primarily focuses on diagnosing & treating conditions affecting the teeth, gums & supporting structures. Holistic dentistry includes those same goals while also considering how oral health may interact with overall health, lifestyle, medical history & material compatibility when planning treatment.

This approach emphasizes:

• Biocompatible, non-toxic dental materials
• Conservative, minimally invasive treatment
• Personalized care based on each patient’s health history
• Prevention & long-term wellness
• Understanding the connection between oral health & overall health

Treatment recommendations are customized to each patient. While some holistic dentists choose to limit or avoid fluoride treatments, recommendations should always be based on your individual oral health needs, cavity risk & personal preferences. Our team will explain your options so you can make an informed decision about your care.

Biocompatible, Mercury-Free Materials

One of the key principles of holistic dentistry is selecting materials that are compatible with each patient’s body.

Before recommending certain restorations, we may perform biocompatibility testing to help identify materials that are less likely to cause unwanted reactions. This may be especially beneficial for patients with sensitivities, allergies or concerns about certain dental materials.

Rather than placing amalgam fillings that contain mercury, we use mercury-free restorative options such as tooth-colored composite fillings & ceramic restorations whenever appropriate.

If you have existing amalgam fillings that need to be replaced, we follow mercury-safe removal protocols designed to help minimize mercury exposure during the procedure. While mercury-free means we do not place new amalgam fillings, mercury-safe refers to the protective techniques & equipment used when removing existing restorations.

Is Holistic Dentistry Right for You?

Many patients choose holistic dentistry because they prefer a more personalized & wellness-focused approach to oral healthcare.

Holistic dentistry may be a good option if you:
• Prefer mercury-free dental restorations
• Have sensitivities or allergies to certain dental materials
• Want biocompatibility testing before treatment
• Are interested in minimally invasive care
• Value a whole-body approach to health

Children may also benefit from preventive, minimally invasive dental care. If you’re interested in a holistic approach for your child, our team can discuss treatment options that are appropriate for their individual needs.

Like any healthcare approach, holistic dentistry isn’t one-size-fits-all. Every treatment recommendation should consider your oral health, medical history, medications & overall wellness. Our team will work with you to develop a treatment plan that supports both your dental health & your long-term well-being.
